Welcome to The Sound Gardener
Want to book a place at an upcoming sound bath? Heard about sound baths and wondering what it is all about? Not sure if a sound bath is for you? Well, you have come to the right place.
The Sound Gardener is here to help you find upcoming sessions, understand what to expect, and decide whether a sound bath or gong bath feels right for you.
What is a
sound bath?
Through the use of a variety of instruments, ranging from singing bowls to gongs, the aim of a sound bath is to promote relaxation and an overall sense of wellbeing.
Typically, a session will last between 45 minutes and an hour, although extended sessions may be available.
In most cases people lie on the floor with their eyes closed and let the sound support them as their brainwave function slows to a state closer to that we experience when we are asleep. If getting up and down onto the floor is an issue, you can get the same benefits seated in a chair.
Whilst some people describe the experience as spiritual, the session itself is not linked to any particular faith or belief system. It is open to everyone, whether you have a faith or not.
Each session ends with therapeutic percussion such as rain sticks, chimes and rattles. The point of this is to bring you back into a normal waking state, so you are able to leave ready to face the world – just hopefully a little more relaxed than when you arrived.

David’s training: Please note I am currently still completing my training with the British Academy of Sound Therapy. Once completed, I will hold a Diploma in Group Sound Relaxation Therapy. The Academy has over 25 years’ experience of working with sound, researching its health benefits and training practitioners like myself.
Meet The Sound Gardener
I have always been interested in the effect that sound can have on us. Just think of how certain pieces of music can evoke a memory or make the hairs stand up on your arms.
I probably attended my first sound bath around 10 years ago and it had a dramatic effect on me, both at the time and afterwards. I have often struggled with quietening my mind in meditation, and found that participating in a sound bath allowed me to shut off the general chatter and noise in my head and really relax.
Having attended a lot of sessions, I thought I would take the plunge and do some training myself so I could share my passion for the amazing things gongs and singing bowls can do with other people.
